Iwate Kogen Snow Park

Located in Iwate Prefecture in northern Japan, Iwate Kogen Snow Park is a compact resort offering authentic skiing just a short distance from Morioka city. With a vertical drop of 430 meters (540m-970m base to summit), the resort features 9 runs serviced by 5 lifts, making it an accessible option for families and intermediate skiers exploring the Tohoku region. The resort receives approximately 650cm of annual snowfall, providing consistent conditions throughout the winter season.

What sets Iwate Kogen apart is its night skiing capability, allowing visitors to extend their ski day under the lights—a particularly appealing feature for those staying in nearby Morioka who want to maximize their time on the slopes. While smaller than Japan's mega-resorts, this intimate mountain offers a less crowded alternative with terrain suitable for beginners through intermediate skiers, and provides an excellent opportunity to experience Japanese ski culture without the international crowds found at more famous destinations.
